Her greatest wartime hits were undoubtedly The White Cliffs of Dover and We’ll Meet Again although there are, of course, many more. Vera Lynn possessed a broad, sincere smile endearing herself to a generation of airmen, seamen and soldiers with an affection that did not wane after the war.
